Big News, Big Change!

This guy is the new GM!

If you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time you probably know that my husband is a truck driver.  He has been doing it for four years and is, in fact, a very good truck driver.  He has been a driver trainer for several years and this past winter he got awarded “driver of the month”.  Even though he is good at his job, and likes what he does, he hates being away from us.  We moved to Missouri so we could see him more frequently, but he is still gone from home far too often.

Last month I went to an English pub for “Moms Night Out” with the women in my homeschool group.  It was such a nice place, I took James there the following week!  The owner came to chat with us after our meal, and was delighted to find out that James was English and spent twenty years in the hospitality industry.  He used to run/own pubs, managed a couple places, ran functions, etc and misses doing it very much.  We have talked several times about perhaps opening our own place someday.

James and the owner chatted back and forth over the next few weeks and…..

Tonight James became the general manager of the pub (which hopes to expand to other venues in the near future)………  The cool thing is that this place fits right into our own beliefs and lifestyle.  They are into sustainable, organic and local food! We are very excited!

My husband gets to be home every single day and gets to have a job that he loves.

I am so very happy about this new chapter in our lives!

  5. That is awesome joni! Everything happens for a reason, and so there was a reason for moving all the way out to Missouri..just not the one you thought it was for!

  6. I can’t think of anyone who deserves this happiness more than you. It’s been a long time coming. Congratulations, Joni!

  7. OMGODDESS Congrat!! I am so happy that your husband will finally be home with you and the kids. Well you enjoy each other and again Congrats!! :)

  8. Congratulations! That is an awesome development. My husband comes home at a very regular time every afternoon. Sometimes I can barely make it to 5:00. I have no idea how moms get by without the dads at night, but my hat is off.

  9. Joni Rae and family, I am so excited for you! I can relate to the stress of having a partner away and this sounds perfect in so many ways. :) Do enjoy all the goodness that this brings for you and yours. Much love.

  10. That’s wonderful to hear. I am so happy for you. It may take some time to get used to him being around so often. I was a military wife for ten years and although I wished my husband was home, when he was home I was used to having my own space to an extent so it would take time to get used to a new routeen. I think it is better to have the hubby and daddy home over all though and you are very blessed that this all worked out. I wish you more blessing to come!

  11. Send me an email with the name of the pub, and the next time we’re over that way we’ll stop in to say “Hi”!

That is FANTASTIC news. I love the part about him getting to be home every night a lot! I’m so glad that this happened for you and your family. CONGRATULATIONS!

  12. That is so awesome! There’s nothing harder than having a parents work take them away from the home a lot. So happy for you guys that he was able to find a job that he enjoys and that allows him to be home :)
