Wouldn’t it be amazing if Google used its global influence to help us normalize breastfeeding?
World Breastfeeding Week takes place from August 1 – 7, 2012, and Dionna at Code Name: Mama has brainstormed several ways Google can join the celebration. Dionna asked me to lend my artistic talents, and I was happy to help.
So today, please visit Code Name: Mama and check out her nine ideas on how Google can help us normalize breastfeeding.
They include fun things like featuring a Google Breastfeeding Doodle or transforming the Google Maps pegman into a breastfeeding pegwoman, to more serious suggestions such as not accepting advertising from companies that are not WHO Code compliant.
And we would love it if you would help us get Google’s attention by sending them an email – there is an example email at the bottom of Dionna’s post.
So first – take a look at my artwork! I’m pretty proud of it. Then check out all of the ideas at Code Name: Mama, email Google, and share with your friends. Let’s get Google to help us celebrate World Breastfeeding Week!

Love, love, love these images! They would be a great addition to Google in support of World Breastfeeding Week and I would definitely be sending all my friends (Mamas and not) to have a looksi.
You are one talented lady
) I hope Google gets on this; off to send my email now.

My first thought is – GREAT JOB on the custom artwork for this promotion! I sincerely mean it, this is fantastic!
My second thought is – yes, it would be great if Google put it’s global muscles to work in support of this. However, I’m not holding my breath about it – Google is going to likely be more concerned with supporting other commercial organizations than supporting something that has always been free and will continue to be free. In corporate boardrooms, health and safety rarely trump profit. It’s sad, but true.
That said, it’s still worth trying to get them to do this. Even making the effort helps raise awareness, and going to the news with it will do even more!
I think that the Google doodle that you came up with is truly beautiful. I love it and would be thrilled if I signed into Google one day and saw it there.
While I don’t think that google would stop advertising anyone to support BF awareness(or anything awareness for that matter), I do think that we have a chance to get this great piece of artwork on the main page:)
The pegwoman is also cute, but I’ve personally never paid the pegman any attention when I’m looking on the map.
I absolutely love your doodle and I hope it gets used!
I agree that Google is more concerned with the bottom line than supporting any cause. They are not about to kick off any advertisers. I also agree that it would not be surprising if they *did* put up this image for a day. So let’s try and see!!!!
