Hopefully November Will Be Stress-Free!

I can’t believe I posted this picture.  My tummy hasn’t been seen since I was in elementary school.

Still on myfitnesspal, still losing weight (even though I fell of the exercise wagon for a few weeks)  and I’m 24.6 pounds less as of last week!  I bought the jeans in this picture on October 7th, because my old ones were falling off of me, and they are already super loose.  I am constantly hitching them up and if I want to look nice I have to dry them twice on high heat so they shrink enough to stay on for a while.  After a couple of hours they are sliding right off.  I don’t even need to unbutton them!

I moved up a level on my workout since the last time I talked about this and it is kicking my ass.  I’ve made a few more food changes as well.  I no longer buy bread.  The kids were eating way too much (nearly a loaf a day!) and I’d rather they have some fruit and cheese or hummus and veggies for snack than what has become the standard: a folded peanut butter sandwich nearly every hour!

Last  week I planned a meatless menu, and it was awesome.  I think we are going to be eating a lot less of it from now on. This week I bought just one chicken, which became soup, with a little of it reserved for tomorrow’s stir fry dinner.  We drink tons of water.  The kids have milk with their meals, and they love a morning cup of hot cocoa or cider, but I don’t buy soda or juice (except for company).

I stopped baking.  I’ve given up on it.  My stupid oven hates me.  I haven’t been able to make ANYTHING turn out right.  I think the temperature is wonky, so I am going to buy a thermometer, but in the meantime we have no yummy baked things to nosh on.  Which totally helps me with my diet!  The huz says it is because I cut my hair.  Apparently I am like Samson and all my kitchen witchy awesomeness resides in my hair.

I am hoping November will be a slower month in general.  October was full of craziness.  Between the NPN Gathering, starting a Children’s Circle at the UU, sugar skull making, homeschooling, finishing and mailing off eight dolls, finishing my first painting, weekly play groups, working on the book, making costumes, Trick or Treating, and preparing for my first public ritual in a looooooong time (and my first time going solo, in like, ten years) -all on top of the whole taking care of four kids alone and trying to keep my sanity- I am exhausted!

I just want to spend the next few weeks writing and dabbling in painting and perhaps knocking off a few more pounds before my mother visits for Thanksgiving and the holiday season kicks into gear.

  1. My Grove is starting a Children’s Circle. We have basically had 2 playdates so far lol. I have basically been letting the kids run it until we can figure out what to do with it, now that we have it… I don’t suppose you have any advice?

Congrats on the weight loss! That is awesome! I am also on MyFitnessPal (ravyneclipse), if you want another friend.

  2. Congrats on the weight loss! that is awesome. I just posted photos of my weight loss (308 to 135 lbs!) I know how tough it is.

Wishing you a Nov. of peace and joy

    Bright Blessings, Lady Rose

  3. You motivated me enough that I joined MFP about 3 wks ago. I’ve lost 5lbs so far, slow going but since it’s been almost 20 years since I exercised routinely I’m taking it slow. What I have found most surprising is how much salt is in everything.
& I also have a wonky stove & silly landlord won’t switch it out, so I haven’t baked in almost 18months.

  4. That picture is AMAZING! Congratulations on having so much room! You’re doing great!

Of course, you have to do what works best for you & your family where the diet is concerned, but I think we’re starting to head in the other direction.

I recently found a very carefully done study on the diets of the most naturally healthy social groups on the earth – and among the factors they all had in common was the consumption of some sort of meat, as well as AT LEAST 30% of their calories coming from natural fats. Since we’ve started to lean more in that direction, I’m seeing my energy levels go up, which I’m hoping will also lead naturally into more activity and at least some amount of missing weight. We’ll see.

  5. Don’t give up!! and the best way to lose fat is to see it and lose it slow. I have no idea how long it took me to become 50# fat but by simply cycling to work (6miles there and another 6 home) and 3 years I only have a bit of 5# to go! By losing slow I have enriched my life habits and know I cannot ever gain the fat back! You are doing a great job!
