I Really Should Oil the Damn Doors.

CRRRREEEEAAAAKKK…

My door opens, and then Patrick is beside my bed.

“Mommmmy????”

“What is it Bubby?”

“I can’t find my pilllllow.”

“Well take mine then.”

CRRRREEEEAAAAKKK…

My door shuts.

CRRRREEEEAAAAKKK…

His door shuts.

A few minutes later…

CRRRREEEEAAAAKKK…

His door opens…

CRRRREEEEAAAAKKK…

My door opens…

(I’m cringing because Cooper had fallen asleep early and I had put him in his pack and play in Patrick’s room thinking I’d get some time to sleep alone and starfish in the bed.)

“Mommmy?”

“Yes Patrick?”

“I’m really frustrated.  Know why? Cuz I couldn’t find my pillow and I came all the way in here and then went all the way back with your borrowed pillow and then I found my pillow just sitting on my bed and I had to come all the way back again.”

(I open one bleary eye and look at my clock.  Its quarter to one.)

“Ok, but you have yours and I have mine and everything is all set now, right?”

“Yeah.”

“Ok- well then get back in bed, and shut the door so that the light doesn’t wake up Coopy.”

CRRRREEEEAAAAKKK…

My door shuts.

CRRRREEEEAAAAKKK…

My door opens.

“Cooper is looking at me.”

“Go back and shut your door and go to bed.  I’m pretty sure he’ll go back to sleep.”

(I’m desperately clinging to the idea that I can still hog my bed to myself.)
